Once we receive your returned package, please allow 1 to 3 weeks for processing. We will contact you as soon as your return is complete.
If your order arrives with shortages, damage, or faults, please report it on the day of delivery. Our team will guide you on a case-by-case basis and may request proof. Beeja Botanicals is not responsible for damage after delivery. Return shipping charges are borne by the customer.
] How should I store my Beeja Botanicals self-care products? Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and always keep the jar sealed when not in use. We recommend avoiding the bathroom, as moisture can compromise the product's integrity. Our products are most effective within 24 months of the production date, printed on the packaging. If your butter melts in high heat, refrigerate it until it hardens. It is completely safe to use after this. Changes in colour or crystallisation over time are natural and do not indicate spoilage or reduced effectiveness.
] Can I buy Beeja Botanicals products in person? Yes! If you are in Bengaluru, you can visit our retail space and shop in person. We are located at 243, 13th Cross Road, near KPN Fresh, 2nd Stage, Hoysala Nagar, Indiranagar, Bengaluru – 560038. We are open Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM. We'd love to see you there!
] Where are Beeja Botanicals products made? All our products are handcrafted in Sirsi, a small town nestled in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. Being rooted in this place is not incidental — it shapes everything from the ingredients we source to the communities we support.
] What does “Beeja” mean, and why that name? Beeja is the Kannada word for seed. It reflects two things central to who we are: most of our key ingredients come from the seeds of locally harvested forest plants, and we believe in planting an idea — that caring for yourself, your community, and your environment are one and the same.
] Who makes Beeja Botanicals products? Beeja is a women-owned and women-operated brand, co-founded by Veena, Nritya, and Mala. Our raw materials are sourced from tribal women and forest-dependent communities in and around Sirsi, using traditional harvesting methods.
] What makes your ingredients different from mainstream personal care brands? We source our ingredients hyper-locally, many within a 20km radius of Sirsi. Our star ingredients, including kokum butter and uppage butter, are forest-harvested using traditional methods. We avoid synthetic fillers and prioritise ingredients that are effective, natural, and ethically obtained.
] Are your products safe for sensitive skin? Yes. Because our products are made with minimally processed, natural ingredients and no harsh synthetic additives, they are generally well-suited for sensitive skin. That said, every person’s skin is different, so we always recommend doing a small patch test before full use, especially if you have known allergies.
] How is Beeja Botanicals different from other “natural” or “clean beauty” brands? Many brands use the word natural as a marketing claim. We go further. We practice radical transparency about where our ingredients come from, who harvests them, and how they are compensated. We also practice collective decision-making with all our stakeholders, not just those at the top. For us, ethical and sustainable are not labels; they are operating principles.
] What is kokum butter, and why is it central to your products? Kokum butter is extracted from the seeds of the kokum fruit (Garcinia indica), native to the Western Ghats. It is deeply moisturising, non-comedogenic, and highly stable — making it ideal for lip balms, body butters, and skin care. It is also a forest product that directly supports the livelihoods of the communities we work with, making it meaningful beyond its cosmetic benefits.
] How are your products packaged? We keep packaging minimal by design. Everything we use is either reusable, recyclable, or biodegradable. We believe packaging should serve the product, not the other way around, and that unnecessary packaging is an unnecessary cost to the planet.
] Do you sell only personal care products, or do you have other offerings? We offer a growing range of products. Alongside personal care items like lip balms, shampoo bars, soaps, body butters, and face cleansing powder, we also offer home and kitchen staples such as turmeric powder, rice, and peanut butter, all locally sourced. We see all of these as extensions of the same philosophy: care, rooted in place.
] How does buying from Beeja Botanicals make a difference? Every purchase directly supports fair compensation for forest-dependent communities and tribal women harvesters in the Western Ghats. It also supports local employment in Sirsi and encourages ecological practices that protect the forests these communities depend on. When you buy from us, you are not just buying a product; you are participating in a more honest and humane supply chain.
