The hands behind every product.

Beeja Botanicals would not exist without the women who harvest our raw materials. Many of them belong to tribal and forest-dependent communities in and around Sirsi, and their knowledge of the land, passed down through generations, is at the heart of what we do.

We work closely with Sumangala, who leads our Self-Help Group and oversees the ethical harvesting of non-timber forest produce (NTFP). Her work ensures that our sourcing is not only sustainable for the forest but also genuinely fair to the people doing the work.

We believe that fair compensation isn’t a bonus; it’s the baseline. Our prices are set to honestly reflect the value of natural ingredients and human labour, because anything less would contradict everything we stand for.

When you buy from us, you’re not just purchasing a product. You’re part of a chain of care that runs from the forest floor to your hands.

The founders

This work was started by three friends — Mala, Veena, and Nritya, who all call Sirsi home. It began simply: making self-care and household products for their own families, using the clean, local ingredients already around them. Over time, the desire to share that goodness grew. And so did Beeja Botanicals.

Mala grew up in Mumbai, but her heart found its home in coastal Karnataka. A clinical psychologist by practice, she’s also a passionate community builder, deeply involved in occupational rehabilitation and championing children’s learning through after-school programs.

Veena is a social entrepreneur with 17 years of experience, 12 of them in craft-based industries. She’s dedicated to building rural clusters and community-rooted enterprises, and she brings that same philosophy to everything she does here.

Nritya grew up in Sirsi, shaped by its forests, rivers, and flavours. She designs everything you see at Beeja, the look, the feel, the visual language, drawing from the landscape she’s loved her whole life.

The core team

Running Beeja Botanicals day-to-day takes a remarkable team, and we are so grateful for each of them. 

Swati is our R&D and formulation specialist — the mind behind our blends and recipes, making sure every product is as good as it can be.

Varsha is the backbone of our operations, the quiet force that holds everything together and keeps us on track.

Yogini leads production and can make a perfect batch of soap in her sleep. She is ably assisted by Rohini and Saritha.
